Call to Action - January 21, 2010
ASIAN CARP INVASION
The Northwest Michigan Regional Chamber Alliance is urging business owners throughout the region to sign an e-petition through Attorney General Mike Cox’ office to urge federal and state lawmakers to do all they can to stop the Asian Carp from moving into Lake Michigan.  The threat is of great concern to the fishing and boating industries in the Great Lakes.  The petition can be accessed at this site:  http://www.stopasiancarp.com/index.html.  There is also an interesting video and other information about the Asian Carp.  Government Relations Director Doug DeYoung has been in contact with Sen. Stabenow’s office and Rep. Camp’s office who say that federal legislation is being drafted to give the Army Corps of Engineers the funds they might need to stop the carp’s invasion.  By signing onto the petition, you’re helping them to show that there is strong support to address this concern from residents and businesses n Michigan.  Please take a moment and sign on today.
