"As small as a world and as large as alone..." This is an exhibition borne out of close observation of the world around us; a silent world of detail and private atmospheres, like the moment something catches your eye as you walk in the forest… or stroll along the beach. .. Five artists have been invited to create intimate views of nature. Harry Boyer of Harbor Springs, Caesar Citraro of Petoskey, Martha Fieber of Manistique, Ladislav Hanka of Kalamazoo, and Kim Kauffman of Lansing.
The Camp Daggett Adventure Center will present a workshop for individuals interested in learning about adventure education and the utilization of a challenge ropes course. Educators, youth group leaders, scout troop leaders or anyone working with young people will be given ideas and activities that can be taken back to the workplace and used with minimal props and expense. Additional areas covered include the philosophy of an adventure program, building trust, presenting and processing group initiatives, safety standards, developing a “critical eye” toward safety, proper care and use of technical equipment, belay technique on the high course and implementing adventure activities into curriculum or existing programs. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have a basic knowledge of and experience with a challenge ropes course program. Please note that this does not include certification or blanket approval to operate a ropes course program. Cost is $175 and includes lunch, instruction, safety/instructor manual and use of equipment. A $50 deposit is required to reserve a spot. The workshop is limited to 15 participants (age 21 and older.)
