Harbor Springs offers their Harbor Springs Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm at 157 State St. in Downtown Harbor Springs. The market has about a dozen vendors who offer everything from eggs to greens, meats to pastas and more.

The Harbor Springs Youth Film Festival


The Harbor Springs Sk8 and the Harbor Springs Library invite aspiring young directors, producers, animators, actors, and actresses to create their own films. Film festival participants will need to write, direct, star in (or cast actors to star in), and edit their own films. Film editing help will be available to those who need or want assistance.


The purpose of the Youth Film Festival is to showcase the talents of young people living in our community. The Youth Film Festival will include a Community Film Screening with the option for viewers to vote for their favorite films and a festival awards night similar to the popular Hollywood award shows.

• No late submissions will be accepted.
• Films can be a maximum of 5 minutes in length.
• Films must be submitted in an MP4 format.
• No more than one group and one individual entry per person.
• The oldest member of a group will dictate the age category in which the film will be entered.
• Films may not contain nudity, sex, violence, bullying, or drug use/ references.
• Films may not contain inappropriate music, language or gestures.
• A completed registration must accompany each film. Forms can be found online at www.harborspringslibrary.org and in person at the Harbor Springs Library, City Hall, Sk8 Park, and School Offices.

Youth Film Festival Awards Night
Members of the community will be voting for their favorite films at the Film Screen Night on Saturday, April 28 at the Harbor Springs Library.

Award categories include:
Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Music, Best Editing
A Youth Film Festival Awards Night will be held on Saturday, May 5 at the Harbor Springs Library.
The award night will resemble a Hollywood Awards Night. Participants are encouraged to “dress to impress”.

5th Annual Chefs Challenge to benefit Challenge Mountain

Showcasing the best chefs in the state of Michigan.  If you're looking for a fun-filled exciting event, don’t miss the 5th Annual Chefs Challenge for Challenge Mountain.
 
Chef teams from throughout Michigan present the state's great agricultural diversity at its succulent finest, complimented by fine Michigan wines, microbrews and spirits.... a true premier Michigan event.  Weekend events include exciting seminars, culinary exhibits, and three chef competitions along with great food, wine and celebrity judges.
 
Friday, April 20:
6pm: High School Competition, Vienna Room - Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa
High school teams prepare dishes using chicken, beef tenderloin, Koegel's Italian sausage and a dessert.  $10 general admission includes unlimited tastes.  A cash bar is also available and entertainment is provided.
 
Saturday, April 21:
9am-3pm: Food Seminars and Demonstrations, Civic Center - free admission
9am-3pm: Michigan Food Vendors, Civic Center
 
11am-2pm: Taste of Michigan Competition, Civic Center
Featuring three exciting tasting categories: College and Universities, Center of the Plate (Professionals) and Dessert.  Cost is $25 for eight tickets good towards food and beverage tastings.  Additional tickets can be purchased in quantities of four for $15 or eight for $25.  Entry/tickets can be purchased at the door.  Chef teams, craft brewers, vintners and spirits distillers are judged by a team of celebrity judges and the public.
 
6:30pm-9pm: Chefs Challenge Cook-Off Dinner, Civic Center
The Chefs Challenge Cook-Off Dinner begins with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the program.  The evening is emceed by celebrity Chef Michelle Bommarito and includes a mouthwatering four-course dinner prepared by Executive Chef Jeff Minkwic and Executive Sous Chef Chad King of Boyne Mountain, plus two beverages.  Guests will enjoy watching the final cook-off between the top two professional winning chef teams.  Chefs Challenge Cook-Off Dinner tickets are limited.  Reserve your tickets in advance!  Purchase your dinner ticket between January 1 and April 1 at a discounted price of $60 per person ($75 after April 1).

2012 Youth Art Show

Crooked Tree Arts Center will open the doors to the 2012 Youth Arts Show on Saturday April 21 from 2-4 p.m. The Youth Arts Show highlights young artists from all over Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.


Installation dates for teachers are: Saturday April 14 from 10 am-4 pm and Monday-Wednesday, April 16-18 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

The Petoskey chapter of Zonta International invites the public to an enchanting new event, the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, on Saturday, April 21 from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m. in the Rose Room at Stafford’s Perry Hotel in downtown Petoskey.

 
The event will include the March Hare Market, featuring vendors offering great shopping and Mother’s Day gift ideas, Alice’s Adventureland for children age 5 and under, a high tea at 3:00 p.m., a gift basket raffle and entertainment. Ticket price is $25 per person, with children 5 and under free with an accompanying paying adult.
