7th Annual Paint Out

On Saturday, June 9th, the Crooked Tree Arts Center will host its 7th Annual Paint Out in conjunction with D'Art for Art. While there is no entry fee for this year's event, participating artists must paint at least one piece to donate to D'Art for Art. The Paint Out will be juried, with a $250 cash prize for best in show. 

Artists can be checked in at either the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey or at the Harbor Springs Marina, across from the Pier Restaurant, between 8 and 8 am. Coffee, donuts and muffins will be served at check in. 

Completed paintings should be delivered to the West Wind Atelier on Main St. in downtown Harbor Springs between 4 and 6 pm. There will be a wine and cheese reception during which all the work created during the day will be on display and prizes awarded. For those unable to make the opening, the work will be on display in the lower level at the Crooked Tree Arts Center through June 28th

This will be the only paint out event that the Crooked Tree Arts Center is hosting during the Summer 2012 Season.

Yankee Lady in Pellston

The grand opening for the new Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting/Snow Removal Equipment facility at Pellston Regional Airport on June 9 will include a very special visitor -- the "Yankee Lady," the Yankee Air Museum’s (YAM) meticulously restored World War II B-17. The Yankee Lady will be on site June 8-10, 2012.  The Willow Run, Ypsilanti based, four-engine heavy bomber will be available for tours and rides. Emmet County License, Rabies and Micro-Chip Clinic

The rabies, Emmet County license and micro-chip clinic will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Pellston Animal Clinic. Ten appointments will be available per hour and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The cost to participate is $30. Registration and payment are required prior to the clinic and must be completed at Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, located at 1300 West Conway Road in Harbor Springs. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted. This clinic is only offered to residents of Emmet County.
The administration of a micro chip is required with this clinic. If your dog has already been micro chipped and you bring proof, he/she can still get the rabies vaccine and county license. The fee is still $30.



If your dog has already received a rabies vaccine but it has expired, you must bring proof of vaccination from a veterinarian’s office in order to receive a three-year rabies vaccination. If there is no written proof, your dog will receive a one-year vaccination.
Owners will receive dog licenses and rabies tags the day of the event.

Dirty Dog Dash

Go tooth & claw with Boyne Mountain!  This course will incorporate everything Michigan has to offer. Look to jump over fire, run through mud, and slip and slide down Disciples Run before crossing the finish line. Join the post party action after you've defeated the mountain in a celebration of completing the toughest adventure mud run in Michigan. Hosted by Boyne Mountain, you’ll enjoy some great scenery, an awesome resort, and other spirited people like yourself who have something to prove, not only to themselves but to everyone who said “You’re crazy for running something like that!”.  In honor of September 11th and our countries service men, the Dirty Dog Dash will donate a portion of the entry fees to the Wounded Warrior Project. Race for a both a good cause and for yourself.   If you’re feeling particularly crazy, we encourage you or your wolfpack to wear a wild costume or have a fun theme. There will there be prizes for overall speed and we will also award the people who go out of their way to have a good time.
Spectators are welcome to hang out at the race and watch the other Dirty Dogs maneuver through the obstacles.   For more information please visit

Michigan Mountain Mayhem
