Women Can / Women Do Luncheon - Emmet County

The Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) will host its annual Women Can/Women Do fundraising luncheon at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club-Lange Center 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 12.
 
The event is a major fundraiser to benefit the WRCNM’s many programs and services which help improve the lives of women, children and families in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet and Otsego counties.  The luncheon features 55 extravagant and uniquely designed tables, a delicious luncheon and silent auction.  A sampling of silent auction items include everything from wine to a Walloon Lake Inn Cooking School for four; as well as jewelry, original artwork, car detailing, themed baskets, gift certificates for dining, golf, skiing and even four one-day passes to Busch Gardens in Tampa Florida.  Too many items to list!

Community Health & Safety Classes

Each year, nearly 5 million people learn how to prepare themselves, their households and their businesses for emergencies. The American Red Cross in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties is offering the following courseswhere people can join the ranks of those ready and prepared to save a life! Listed below are our course offerings for September.
The First Aid and CPR/AED courses teach people how to perform CPR and use an AED (automated external defibrillator), what to do if someone is choking, and how to prevent and respond to other emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. Course participants also learn how to control bleeding as well as how to care for seizures and other sudden illnesses.
 
All classes are held at the Petoskey Red Cross Office, located at 2350 Mitchell Park Drive, in Petoskey.
 
SEPTEMBER CLASSES:
 
Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED ($110)
When: 9/12/2012 and 9/13/2012, W 6p-9p, Th 6p-9p (6 hrs)
 
Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED Review ($70)
When: 9/26/2012, W 6p-9p
 
Red Cross training courses meet OSHA guidelines, feature hands-on skills practice and include 2 year certifications, free digital materials and skill refreshers. Visit redcross.org/training or call 1-800-RED-CROSS for details and to register for a class.
